JOHNSON KINDLE and RUTH ANN DYE 3G Uncle JOHNSON KINDLE, eleventh child of DAVID KINDLE and THEODOSIA SCOTT, was born 14 Feb 1827 in Brown County, Ohio. He married RUTH ANN DYE on 7 Feb 1849 in Brown Co. Sometime after 1850 they went west, and if the census records are correct, they went first to Illinois by 1853, then on to Iowa by 1855, and in 1860 were living in Wells Twp, Appanoose Co, Iowa. At that time, they owned real estate valued at $640, and Johnson gave his occupation as "Farmer". Update: In the 1870 Census for Wells Twp, Appanoose Co, Iowa, Family # 90/91, RUTH STEPHENS, 39, Ohio, is listed as head of household with children: FRANK KINDLE, 19, Ohio, AMANDA E. KINDLE, 18, Ohio, MARY ETTA KINDLE, 15, Ohio, AMOS KINDLE, 13, Ohio, CARRY D. KINDLE, 11, Iowa, and MARTHA STEPHENS, 7, Iowa. Apparently JOHNSON KINDLE had died between 1860 and 1863? (Civil War?) and RUTH ANN remarried to a Mr. STEPHENS, and he possibly died as well before 1870. Also, youngest son DOUGLAS KINDLE not present and may have died between 1860 and 1870. There are other STEPHENS households in 1870 Census for Wells Twp, Appanoose Co, Iowa. |
