David KENDALL and Theodosia SCOTT of Brown County, Ohio are our earliest known Kendall ancestors. Their families settled near the borders of Adams County and Clermont County, Ohio around 1804. By 1818, that area was part of the newly formed Brown County.

David and Theodosia had 17 children born between 1811 and 1838. There were two who died in infancy, names unknown to us, and 15 who reached maturity, and all of whom married in Brown County.

DAVID KINDLE was born about 1786 in either Pennsylvania or Virginia, and died 20 Oct 1858 in Russellville, Brown Co, Ohio. Of his family, only younger brother Joseph KENDALL, born about 1792, has been adaquately identified. David and Joseph served together in the War of 1812, in Capt. Thomas McConnell's Company.

THEODOSIA SCOTT was born in Virginia about 1794, and died July 1875 in Brown County, Ohio. She is the daughter of THOMAS and ANNE SCOTT, probably the second of eight known children. The family was from Virginia, and apparently came first to Kentucky and then to Ohio, probably between 1794 and 1799 based on reported dates and places of birth for the children. We are trying to determine which county in Virginia, and find the rest of the Scott family.

Some of the Kindle's left Brown Co. and settled in Nineveh Twp, Johnson Co, Indiana. Some of David and Theodosia's children ranged even farther west, and so far, residences in the states of Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Oklahoma have been identified.
